How due-date estimation works

A standard LMP calculation estimates 40 weeks, or 280 days, from the first day of the last menstrual period. A known conception date uses about 266 days. IVF calculations account for embryo age at transfer. Ultrasound mode adds the time remaining in a 40-week pregnancy to the gestational age recorded on the scan date.

More than one method: use the date your prenatal care professional has selected for your pregnancy record. An early clinical ultrasound may change an LMP-based estimate.

Pregnancy milestones

This calculator marks the second trimester at 14 weeks and the third trimester at 28 weeks. These boundaries are useful for planning, but tests, appointments, and care schedules vary by medical history and healthcare system.

Frequently asked questions

Will birth happen exactly on the due date?

Usually not. A due date is a reference point, not an appointment. Your healthcare professional can explain what timing means for your pregnancy.

What if my cycles are irregular?

LMP-based estimates may be less reliable. Clinical history and ultrasound dating may provide better guidance.

Why can an ultrasound date differ?

Ultrasound estimates gestational age from measurements. A clinician may revise pregnancy dating according to the timing and quality of the scan and accepted medical criteria.

Does this calculator confirm pregnancy health?

No. It only performs date arithmetic and cannot assess pregnancy location, growth, viability, or health.
