How to use the business loan calculator
Enter the amount your business needs, the annual interest rate, the term, and how often payments will be made. Add an origination fee as a percentage of the requested amount plus any documentation or other fees. Choose whether to finance those fees or pay them upfront.
How payment frequency changes the estimate
The estimate starts with a nominal annual rate compounded monthly and converts it to a periodic rate for the selected payment schedule. The schedule then applies interest and principal at each payment period. A lender may use daily interest, different compounding rules, variable rates, or other payment timing.
Why fees affect the effective rate
Interest rate alone does not show the full borrowing cost. Origination and other fees can reduce the cash proceeds or increase the amount repaid. The fee-adjusted effective annual rate shown here is an estimate derived from the payment stream and net proceeds; it is not a legally disclosed APR for every jurisdiction.
Common business loan costs
In addition to interest, review origination, documentation, application, annual servicing, wire transfer, late-payment, and prepayment charges. Some fees are paid upfront, while others may be included in the financed balance. Confirm the complete fee schedule with the lender before comparing offers.
What is the difference between requested amount and amount financed?
The requested amount is the business funding amount you enter. If fees are financed, they are added to the requested amount and increase the payment. If fees are paid upfront, the financed balance stays at the requested amount, but the fees reduce the net proceeds received.
Does the estimate include balloon or interest-only payments?
No. This calculator models a fully amortizing loan with level payments. Balloon, interest-only, variable-rate, and revenue-based loan structures need different calculations.
Does this guarantee approval or a particular rate?
No. It is a mathematical estimate based on your entries. Lenders assess eligibility and set terms using their own underwriting and documentation.
