How to use the boat loan calculator

Select whether you know the boat price or want to estimate a price from a monthly-payment target. Enter the loan term and annual interest rate, then add your down payment, trade-in value, tax rate, and fees. Choose whether tax and fees are included in the loan and whether to show a monthly or annual schedule.

How the payment is estimated

The calculator estimates sales tax from the boat price, with an option to subtract the trade-in first. It then adds or excludes sales tax and fees from the financed amount according to your selection, subtracts down payment and trade-in credit, and calculates a fixed monthly payment using the loan rate and term.

Costs beyond the loan payment

The monthly loan payment does not represent every cost of owning a boat. Consider insurance, registration, storage, maintenance, fuel, safety equipment, and marina or mooring fees. Depending on the financing arrangement, the boat may serve as collateral. Review the loan agreement and local tax treatment before purchase.

What does the upfront payment include?

This estimate includes the down payment and any sales tax or fees you chose not to finance. The total paid figure includes cash paid and scheduled loan payments, but excludes the value of the trade-in.

What is the boat-price-from-payment option?

It solves for an estimated purchase price that produces the entered target monthly loan payment under your selected rate, term, down payment, trade-in, tax, and fee assumptions. It is a calculation estimate, not a lender’s affordability decision.

Are taxes and trade-in rules universal?

No. Tax rates, taxable amounts, trade-in deductions, registration, and fee treatment vary by location. The calculator lets you choose whether to subtract the trade-in from the taxable price, but it cannot represent every local rule.
